SPE Drilling & Completion is celebrating a milestone year with its 35th volume. As the successor publication to SPE Drilling Engineering, the journal continues to offer the latest in technical knowledge for all aspects of drilling operations and completions. The first issue of 2020 features the second in a two-part series on cuttings transport modeling and delves into the topics of automation and optimization in drilling, fluids and cement additives, and wellbore cleanout in inclined and horizontal wells.
Also celebrating anniversary milestones are SPE Journal, with its 25th volume, and SPE Production & Operations, with its 35th volume. In the February 2020 issues, SPE J editors recommended “Unlocking the Potential: Understanding the Psychological Factors That Influence Technology Adoption in the Upstream Oil and Gas Industry” (SPE-198903-PA), while SPE PO offered an interesting grouping of papers on acid stimulation, among other topics. SPE Reservoir Evaluation & Engineering explored the subjects of unconventional reservoir development, enhanced oil recovery, and petrophysics with their selection of high-quality peer-reviewed papers.
Of further note in regard to journals, author biographies will no longer be required for publication in SPE journal papers as part of broader efforts to adopt scholarly publishing best practices and streamline our submission, peer-review, and production processes. This is a rolling change that initiated in November 2019, so in the coming months, readers will see a mix of papers published with and without biographies until the rollover is complete.
