Session 4: Decarbonisation I

The energy transition towards a low carbon future is underway and these sessions will describe some interesting developments in the oil and gas industry in response to the transition. The sessions will consider the increasing focus on oil and gas industry emissions management in the UK, how future energy mix scenarios may affect the offshore industry and an approach to identifying the next generation of technology opportunities to position the industry in the low carbon economy. The importance of carbon capture and storage to the industry will be discussed along with an update on the only large-scale carbon capture project currently under evaluation in Scotland, the ACORN project and a case study describing the integration of a gas to wire system with carbon capture and storage at an offshore gas field in the Netherlands. Unique energy storage solutions will be considered using an example in the North Sea that is the world's first drilling rig to operate a low-emission hybrid power plant. A project to evaluate the potential opportunity to re-use existing offshore infrastructure for the production and supply hydrogen as an alternative low carbon fuel will also be described.

Session 6: Next Generation Reservoir Analytics

Reservoir characterisation and performance analysis has been at the vanguard of exploiting high performance computing to integrate and extract understanding from large and complex data sets for decades. In the lower for longer price environment the imperative to clearly understanding our reservoirs has never been higher. This session highlights new methods and analytical techniques allowing maximum information to be drawn. The developments presented enable and support an enhanced understanding of reservoirs, heralding a next generation of reservoir analytics ensuring that the Industry remains competitive in an ever advancing digital world.

Session 8: Data Analytics Applications in Use Today

Today's technology is evolving rapidly. New data management and machine learning techniques with cloud computing have created insights and business value opportunities today for the oil gas sector that may not have been imaginable just a number of years ago. Session 9: Improving Safety Performance - from Data Analysis to the Coal Face

Continuous improvement in safety performance is a top agenda item across all companies working in our industry today and this session aims to provide insights into how this can be achieved.
