Session 1: A New Era in Process Safety Management

In this session we will illustrate how new computing technologies applied to maturing fields on the UKCS drives improvements in process safety. Specialist numerical analysis or having a digital twin of the offshore facility, are now an efficient alternative to conventional design approaches as a basis for risk assessment processes. We will learn about the pooling of billions of hours of data on pressure safety valves to feed into risk-based inspection schemes, the use of digital twins in updating of procedures and at the same time incorporating human factors reviews. You will also see reviews of the progress of safety application and technology over the last 30 years giving learnings on how we manage our major accident hazards, hydrocarbon leaks and decommissioning activities.

Session 2: Subsea

Subsea - a small word for a huge area of the industry which is key to unlocking MER UK. Subsea solutions offer efficient access to existing infrastructure, have the potential improve overall operating efficiency by keeping equipment and facilities on the sea bed and, as we have seen in recent history, are critical for responding to major incidents. For this session, our presenters bring together papers covering the whole range from incident escalation prevention to new technologies for subsea inspection and chemical injection. These papers are intended to educate; enlighten and stimulate discussion.

Session 3: Transformational Data Analytics

Oil and gas field development planning and management has always been built on a foundation of decisions informed by data, but how well utilised is that data? With the exponential pace of increased computing power and decreased relative cost, the oil and gas sector's ability to leverage its data sets to better inform and accelerate decision making is having a material impact on business performance. In this session we consider how this is transforming a wide range of real-world activities - gaining insights from "live" digital twins, reducing operating costs whilst improving reliability, using machine learning and AI to increase reservoir understanding.
