Session 4: Advances in Surveillance & Interpretation Techniques to Improve Reservoir Characterization

Reservoir characterization is a crucial component of any subsurface forecasting workflow to design production strategies and optimize hydrocarbon recovery. This session presents novel multidisciplinary approaches in the areas of reservoir surveillance and coupled flow-geomechanics for improving the characterization of different reservoir types (naturally fractured, faulted, layered turbidites, and unconventional).

Session 5: Heavy Oil and Thermal Recovery - Novel Methods

SPE Western Region has a long and rich history in heavy oil thermal recovery, with world-wide application. Here are some very interesting topics, ranging from practical workflow approaches to simulation, as well as some novel ways to reduce viscosity, using thermochemicals, metal sulfonate compounds, and in-situ heat generation underlying permafrost. Also there are presentations around solvent steam process and SAGD.
