Obtaining good quality seismic images requires reasonably flat gathers for stacking after normal moveout correction. Hence, an accurate velocity model is necessary. In this paper, we present the application of cross-correlation of near- and far-angle stacks as a quality indicator for velocity quality control (QC) after velocity updates like tomographic inversion or residual moveout correction (RMO). We also discuss some additional processing considerations for this method.
