API is the only national trade association that represents all aspects of America’s oil and natural gas industry. Their over 400 corporate members, from the largest major oil company to the smallest of independents, come from all segments of the industry. There members are producers, refiners, suppliers, pipeline operators and marine transporters, as well as service and supply companies that support all segments of the industry. For more than 75 years, API has led the development of petroleum and petrochemical equipment and operating standards. In addition to its standards, API organizes seminars, workshops, conferences and symposia on public policy issues.

The American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA) serves as an advocate for firms and individuals who represent all aspects of rock mechanics and rock engineering. ARMA provides a communications link, a forum, and an information resource for members, related organizations, and the public.
ARMA’s goal is to disseminate information through meetings, publications, and the Internet. ARMA publishes ARMA E-News, a periodic electronic newsletter, conducts educational workshops and short courses, organizes topical symposia, and sponsors the U.S. Rock Mechanics Symposium. ARMA serves as an information repository on the development of rock mechanics and rock engineering, and promotes the development of knowledge within the field. In addition, ARMA maintains the U.S. membership in the International Society for Rock Mechanics.

Founded in 1911, American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) is the oldest and largest professional safety organization. Its more than 30,000 members manage, supervise and consult on safety, health, and environmental issues in industry, insurance, government and education. ASSE is a full-service organization for its members, and the public, providing key information and action on occupational safety, health and environmental issues and practices. ASSE members work to prevent workplace injuries and illnesses, to create safer work and leisure environments and to develop safer products, enhancing the quality of life. These efforts lead to positive bottom line results for businesses as they realize a reduced rate of
injuries and illnesses leading to a reduction in lost work time, absenteeism, workers compensation costs, health care costs, and lower employee turnover rates. They also experienced increased production rates, increased employee moral and a positive corporate reputation.

NACE International is your inside track to the corrosion engineering and science community, and is recognized around the world as the premier authority for corrosion control solutions. The NACE International mission to protect people, assets, and the environment from the effect of corrosion is global. Their members work in corporations, educational institutions, research facilities, and the federal government. Whether a person is a scientist, engineer, contractor, student or simply someone who possesses a real commitment to the advancement of corrosion control, they are invited to become part of this dynamic and influential organization.

The Offshore Technology Conference is the world’s foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the fields of drilling, exploration, production, and environmental protection. OTC is held annually at Reliant Center in Houston. OTC includes attendees from around the globe, with more than 110 countries represented at recent conferences. OTC is sponsored by 12 industry organizations and societies, who work cooperatively to develop the technical program each year.

The Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA) is a nonprofit corporation dedicated to the advancement of the science of petrophysics and formation evaluation, through well logging and other formation evaluation techniques and to the application of these techniques to the exploitation of gas, oil and other minerals. Founded in 1959, SPWLA provides information services to scientists in the petroleum and mineral industries, serves as a voice of shared interests in our profession, plays a major role in strengthening petrophysical education, and strives to increase the awareness of the role petrophysics has in the oil and gas industry and the scientific community.

The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is a not-for-profit professional association whose members are engaged in energy resources development and production. SPE serves 88,000-plus members from more than 118 countries worldwide. SPE is a key resource for technical knowledge related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry and provides services through its publications, conferences, workshops, forums, and website.

SPEE was formed in 1962 to answer a longstanding need for a professional organization which would bring together, for their mutual benefit, specialists in the evaluation of petroleum and natural gas properties. SPEE continues today to be strongly committed to providing educational and other services to its members and to the oil and gas industry, and to promoting the profession of petroleum evaluation engineering.

The Society of Underwater Technology was founded to promote the further understanding of the underwater environment and to encourage the cross-fertilisation and dissemination of ideas, experience and information between workers in academic research, applied research and technology, industry and government. In addition SUT encourages development of techniques and tools to explore, study and exploit the oceans, proper economic and sociological usage of resources in and beneath the oceans, and further education of scientists and technologists to maintain high standards in marine science and technology.

The WPC is the only global organisation that represents all aspects of the petroleum industry, with the purpose of providing networking opportunities in a global forum; common understanding of issues and challenges; co-operation (partnerships) with other organizations; promotion of science/technology/social issues/economics/R&D/management and the environment; a showcase for the industry; a forum for developing business opportunities; and information dissemination (congresses, reports, regional meetings and workshops).
