About OnePetro
What is OnePetro?
OnePetro.org is a multi-society library that provides a simple way to search for and access a broad range of technical literature related to the oil and gas exploration and production industry. From one place, you can search and buy documents from many different professional societies, or similar organizations, that serve the oil and gas industry.
Customers can purchase any of the documents they find through their searches with a credit card, and download them as pdf files directly to their computers. Purchases can be made in USD, GBP, or EUR.

Background
OnePetro was launched in March 2007. OnePetro currently contains more than 70,000 documents, with more being added frequently. The number of documents is expected to grow significantly during 2008 as additional organizations choose to make their materials available through OnePetro. OnePetro is the first online offering of documents from some organizations, making these materials widely available for the first time.
The following organizations currently have their technical documents available through OnePetro:
- American Rock Mechanics Association (ARMA)
- American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE)
- Offshore Techology Conference (OTC)
- NACE International (corrosion engineers)
- Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE)
- Society of Petrophysicists and Well Log Analysts (SPWLA)
- World Petroleum Council (WPC)
The number of participating organizations is expected to grow over time.
Who is Responsible for OnePetro?
OnePetro is a multi-society effort that reflects participation of many organizations. The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) is operating OnePetro on behalf of the participating organizations. SPE provides the computers and technology on which OnePetro operates and provides Customer Service support.
