We are pleased to announce that in 2009 OnePetro began including all of our content in Google and Google Scholar. This offers our users an additional way of searching for documents in OnePetro using an interface that they are very familiar with.
Tip: The Google Advanced Search will allow you to enter your criteria and specify that the only results returned are from OnePetro. Just enter "onepetro.org" in the field Search within a site or domain. Just a reminder, Google is keyword based searching and the OnePetro search is concept based searching. Google's results will be weighted on how many times the term appears in the article.
Google Scholar is as easy to use as the normal Google web search can be, especially with the helpfulness of the "advanced search" option, which can automatically narrow search results to a specific topic, journal or article. Use Google Scholar's Advanced Search to search by author, publication, and date. Increase the accuracy and effectiveness of Google Scholar searches by checking out the Advanced Scholar Search Tips . Google Scholar ranks documents the way researchers do, weighing the full text of each document, where it was published, who it was written by, as well as how often and how recently it has been cited in other scholarly literature.
Clicking the 'Cited by' link in Google Scholar will display a list of articles and documents that have cited the document originally retrieved in the search. This makes it possible to find other documents related by topic to the originial document. However, Google Scholar only includes articles that are indexed within its database.
*If you are a subscriber to OnePetro you can still use Google and/or Google Scholar to search for your information. The Google link will take you to the OnePetro preview page. If you have an unlimited subscription you will see the link to the PDF on the upper right portion of the preview page. If you are a limited subscriber or wish to purchase as a pay-per-view you will see "add to cart".
