In this paper we are to investigate fluid flow through porous media at high Reynolds number. We will define the concept of Viscous Dissipation. In viscous dissipation section, all the known parameters contributing to pressure loss will be considered. From the concept of viscous dissipation, it will be found that why Darcy law fails to describe fluid flow through porous media at high Reynolds number.
The theoretical Kozeny-Carman equation and empirical Forchheimer and Brinkman equations will be investigated as extensions to Darcy equation.
Some new models for non-Darcy coefficient (Forchheimer coefficient) will be presented and they will be compared with other models available in literatures.
